  • Children in Need Friday 17th November

    10th November 2017

    Students are invited to wear 'crazy ties or silly socks' as part of Children in Need this year, if they choose to do so there will be a £1 donation made to the charity. If not they need to comply with usual uniform expectations. There will be lots of exciting activities taking place throughout the day to help support Chidlren in Need.

  • Mega Travel Cards and Multi Ride Tickets

    10th November 2017

    On 11th November First Bus will be upgrading the drivers ticket machines.

    This will mean that some tickets will be sold in smart form only.

    This includes the £6 FirstWeek, the £2 FirstDay and the £7.50 GetAbout.

    A Mega Travel or 16-18 travel pass will be required, as now, in order to buy the product. The difference will be that the product will be electronically written to the card. Therefore, if there is no card we will be physically unable to issue the product.

  • Year 7 & 12 Parents’ Evening

    Year 7 and Year 12 Parents’ Evening will take place on Tuesday 24th October 2017, 4.30 pm – 7.00 pm. This evening is an opportunity for you to meet with your son’s/daughter’s teachers and discuss their work, effort and progress so far this year. If you do not have any concerns about your son/daughter and are happy with the progress they are making, you do not need to attend.  If you would like to attend, we would encourage you to bring your son/daughter with you.

    From Monday 25th September the following changes to the school bus services will be made:

     

    Service 429 provided by First will depart Toll Bar at the slightly earlier time of 07:30 and then 07:38 at Bentley High Street

    Service 530 provided by Powells will remain the same and depart Arksey at 07:54 and then 08:00 at Bentley, Arksey Lane

     

    The afternoon journey on service 429 will depart the school five minutes earlier at 14:40 rather than 14:45

  • GCSE Results

    Students and staff at Don Valley Academy are celebrating the success of our GCSE results for this academic year.  Congratulations to all our students who have worked extremely hard and gained some fantastic grades across the curriculum.

    The Academy is celebrating 56% Maths and English combined at Grade 4, consolidating their record breaking results last year.

  • Post 16 Results

    Students and staff at Don Valley Academy are celebrating a fantastic set of post 16 results for this academic year.

    Almost half the A Level results achieved were graded at A*-C and 20% of grades were A*-B.

    A-Level maths accumulated some outstanding results with 50% of the cohort achieving grades A*-B with 83% also achieving grades A*-C.

    Great results were seen across a wide range of subjects, with 100% pass rate in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Polish, English, History, Maths, Media Studies, Perform

  • BrightBus school services update

    3rd August 2017

    School bus company BrightBus has announced its closure from the end of the academic year 2016/17.

    SYPTE, working with other bus companies and the local authorities, has put alternative travel arrangements in place for  the 78 routes run by BrightBus to 32 schools. Services for Don Valley Academy from September 2017 are listed in the table below (links below will open up as PDFs)

  • SPT Uniforms 'Shop n Swap' Days

    7th July 2017

    SPT Uniforms will be holding 'Shop n Swap' days at the academy in the Main Hall. Uniform can be purchased on the day. Payments can be made using cash, debit/credit cards. Any items that require replacement/exchange can also be made. 'Shop n Swap' days are as follows:

    Wednesday 12th July           2.30pm - 6.00pm

    Tuesday 1st August              10.00am - 3.00pm

  • MASS Brightbus School Transport

    MASS Brightbus will no longer be operating following the end of the current Academic Year. South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) is  co-ordinating  significant work behind the scenes, with The Local Authority and other commercial bus companies, to put alternative services in place following BrightBus’ announced closure.  As the new services are announced schools will be informed, however some timetables may not be available until after the schools close for the summer.  Therefore, if your sc

    We have been informed that the transport provider - Brightbus is intending to close at the end of the academic year.

    Brightbus currently provide commercial school services across South Yorkshire with approximately 11000 journeys each day.  Brightbus have been a key player in our market since the late 1980s and have done a lot of work to build relationships with schools and parents to encourage the safe and direct travel for young people.

  • Updated Routes to 529 and 530 Bus services

    Please find below updated routes and timetables for the Don Valley services.  There are no changes to the morning service.  The afternoon services have been amalgamated into one service.  There is capacity on one bus to carry all passengers.

    The changes will take place from Monday 20th March 2017.

  • Year 8 Options Information Evening

    Students in Year 8 will soon be asked to make choices on which optional subjects they would like to study in Years 9, 10 and 11. An Options  Information Evening will take place on the Thursday 9th March 2017, 5.00pm – 7.00pm where there will be the opportunity to gain information about all the courses on offer from all departments.

  • Parking at Don Valley Academy

    25th January 2017

    Parking is available at the front of the Academy in the Jossey Lane carpark, this is however limited. Visitors and parents are reminded that there is additional parking available at the rear of the Academy via the Stonehill Rise entrance, this will be particularly useful at large events such as Parents Evenings, Productions etc.

    Disabled parking bays are available for designated users only.

    Parents are also asked to park responsibly on Jossey Lane.

  • Travel Pass 1

    Cheaper travel with the 11-16 MegaTravel Pass

    16th January 2017

    Children aged 11-16 and living in South Yorkshire can apply for a MegaTravel Pass to prove to bus drivers, tram conductors and ticket sellers that they are entitled to travel at reduced cost on public transport. You can apply for the 11-16 MegaTravel Pass online. Full details on how to apply can be found here: Travel South Yorkshire

    11-16’s travelling without a valid pass will be charged full fare.

    There will be numerous events taking place throughout the day including non-uniform day, Don Valley make up challenge, leg waxing & head shaving, auctions, Tombola & stalls and lots more sponsored events.

    On Wednesday 9th November students from Don Valley Academy performed Antony & Cleopatra in the Shakespeare Schools Fesitval at the Leeds Carriageworks Theatre.
