Dear Parents/Carers
As we approach the end of the summer term, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents and carers and wider community for their support of the Academy and I would like to draw your attention to some important information.
It is important that your child continues to attend the Academy every day this week, our summer Attendance competition continues and offers every student a chance of going into the prize draw to win a pair of Apple Ipods.
Friday 19th July 2024
The Academy will close to students at 12 noon. Unfortunately, the school bus will not be available to take students home at this time so students will need to make their own way home or be collected from the Academy. Lunch will be provided for any students who would like to stay. In order to allow us to plan for catering, could you please complete this link if you wish your child requires a lunch. https://forms.office.com/e/EqLrSNzNvE

Attendance
Your child’s attendance is hugely important to their academic success. September is a new start, and it is vital that your child’s attendance is exemplary. Any unauthorised time away from the Academy can hamper your child’s life chances. 97% attendance still means 5 days off in an academic year. There are only 190 days of school in a year – there are 175 days for holidays, shopping, celebrations, and non-urgent appointments. As always, we will include attendance in our regular rewards events so watch this space. Please remember, students need to arrive at the Academy for 8.15am. If they are not in the building by 8.25am, they will receive a detention for lateness.
Please be aware of the new legislation by the Government, from August 2024 the PENALTY NOTICE, for school absences across the country will be charged at £160 if paid within 28 days, this will reduce to £80 if paid within 21 days.
If a parent receives a SECOND PENALTY NOTICE for the same child within any three-year period, this will be charged at the flat rate of £160 if paid within 28 days. (no reduction if paid earlier)
Fines per parent will be capped to two fines within any three-year period for the same child. Once this limit has been reached, other action’s may be considered like an Attendance contact, Education Supervision Order or Prosecution, these will be considered if the school attendance of the child is not secured.
We look forward to welcoming your son/daughter back in the Academy in September and wish you all a safe and enjoyable summer.
Yours sincerely
Richard Brooke
Executive Principal
