At Don Valley Academy, we are committed to supporting our students’ safety both in school and online. As part of this, we would like to share information about Snapchat’s Family Center, a tool designed to help parents and carers stay informed about their child’s activity on Snapchat while respecting their privacy.

What is Snapchat Family Center?

Snapchat Family Center allows parents and carers to:

  • See who their child is friends with on Snapchat.
  • View who their child is communicating with (but not the content of messages).
  • Report safety concerns directly to Snapchat.
  • Access resources and guidance about online safety and responsible social media use.

This feature aims to encourage open conversations between parents and young people about their online lives, helping to build trust and awareness while keeping children safe from inappropriate content or contact.

How to Access Family Center

Parents can set up Family Center by:

  1. Ensuring both the parent and child have the Snapchat app.
  2. Opening Settings in the Snapchat app and selecting Family Center.
  3. Sending an invitation to connect with their child’s account.

Once connected, you’ll be able to monitor interactions in a supportive and transparent way.

We encourage all parents and carers to take a few minutes to explore these features and have regular conversations with their children about staying safe online.
