Transition Days – Tuesday 9^th July and Wednesday 10^th July

We are very excited about our forthcoming transition days and are looking forward to opening our doors and allowing students to see the amazing teaching and learning environment we have to offer them. Arrangements for the transition days are as follows:

Students are expected to make their own way to and from the Academy on Transition days.  If your child is to travel to and from the Academy using the designated service bus for Don Valley Academy, please see attached information regarding the First bus 429 service.

Arrival

Students will need to arrive for an 8.30 am start via the Stonehill Rise entrance.

What to bring

Students should wear their normal school uniform and bring their school bag with a pen. They will also need to bring a pair of trainers.  In line with Academy policy, students should not wear jewellery in the Academy.  If a mobile phone is carried, this must be switched off and placed in bags during time in the Academy.

Lunch arrangements

Students will be provided, free of charge, a choice of either a hot meal, pasta or sandwich.  Please inform us of any special dietary requirements.

Students are welcome to bring their own packed lunch.

Departure

Students will depart from the Academy at 2.30 pm via the Jossey Lane Entrance.

Transition Parents’ Information Evening – Wednesday 10^th July – 5.00 pm – 6.30 pm

A Parents’ Information Evening and BBQ will take place at the Academy for all Year 6 Families on Wednesday 10^th July between 5.00 pm and 6.30 pm.  This will include a chance to meet the Senior Leadership Team and an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.  Please click this link https://forms.office.com/e/1P7J3NaiJS to confirm your attendance at the evening and to allow us to gather numbers for catering.

Enhanced Transition Day – Monday 8^th July

We will be inviting specific students to come into the Academy for an Enhanced Transition Day on Monday 8^th July.  This is to allow them to visit us and meet staff in a very calm and structured day to prepare them for the following two transition days.  A separate invitation will be sent for those whom we would like to invite in.

Uniform

During the transition days at Don Valley Academy, your child will be measured for their uniform by the SPT Uniforms Team on Wednesday 10^th July.  Once your child has been measured, SPT uniforms will process the order and your child’s uniform will be packed and delivered to Don Valley Academy. Your child will receive a uniform pack free of charge.  The uniform pack contains:

Your child’s uniform pack will be available to collect from the Main Hall at Don Valley Academy on Monday 22^nd July and Tuesday 23^rd July from 9.00 am until 2.30 pm.

We will also be holding two ‘Pop Up Shops’ on Wednesday 24^th July and Wednesday 7^th August – 10.30 am to         2.30 pm. On these days you will be able to exchange items from your pack which may be unsuitable and purchase additional uniform items. You may also collect your uniform pack on these days if you have not done so already.

Moving Up Booklet

We will shortly be posting to you a copy of our Academy ‘Moving Up’ booklet.  This contains information about what it is like to be a Don Valley student and our expectations.  Please take the time to work through this with your child as it will answer many of your questions.
